Retail channel feedback: DRM bad for sales
An article in the Toronto Star surveys area retailers, who are getting a ton of product returns of DRMed CDs once they find out the CDs can’t be put on their iPods. Favorite quote: Terri McBride, president of progressive Canadian label Nettwork: “The average consumer who’s not tech-savvy is going to buy the CD, thinking that they can load it onto their IPod . . . They’re going to be royally pissed off… Why do you want to piss off the people who buy?” Excellent question.
